One Pan Spaghetti in a pot

Perfect for a busy weeknight, this one pan spaghetti dish has grains, vegetables, meat, and dairy. Enjoy it with a side of fruit.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (lean)
  • 1 onion (medium, chopped)
  • 3 1/2 cups water
  • 1 can tomato sauce, low-sodium (15 ounces)
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon rosemary
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 16 ounces spaghetti noodles (broken)
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese (shredded)

Directions

  1. Wash hands with soap and water.
  2. Brown meat and onions in a large skillet over medium-high heat (300 °F in an electric skillet). Drain fat.
  3. Stir in water, tomato sauce, and spices; bring to a boil.
  4. Add spaghetti, cover pan, and simmer 10 to 15 minutes, stirring often to prevent sticking.
  5. When spaghetti is tender, top with grated cheese.
  6. Refrigerate leftovers with in 2 hours.

Notes

For 16 ounces of broken spaghetti noodles, use about 1/3 of a one pound box.

Hands down!! This recipe is by far the best one pan spaghetti I have ever tried. It was easy, I cooked it with chicken thighs instead and It came out incredibly good. I have also made it with ground turkey it was good but not as good as the chicken! You have to try it.

The sauce was a little blah...participants suggested adding more spices to make the flavor better.
